In our line of work, we have the opportunity to work with many amazing clients on many memorable design projects. But this project is one that really stands out! The Rest is a stunning waterfront home on the Miles River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We worked with the owners of this home over a six-year period, transforming it from a dated, dark space to a light-filled, inviting family retreat!
This project certainly presented some challenges! The interior of this historic home was dark and hadn’t been updated since the 1970’s. The house had good bones, but the finishings left a lot to be desired. The interior spaces simply didn’t reflect the fun personalities and active lifestyles of the family.
We set out to create spaces that were sophisticated yet comfortable. A classic color palette of blues, greens, and yellows was selected to complement the family's cheerful personality and highlight the waterfront views. We also chose durable fabrics and finishes because these rooms are truly meant to be lived in and enjoyed!
