introducing

the tidewater collection

by Jamie Merida for Chelsea House

Anchored in history and ready to set sail into the future, the Tidewater Collection pays homage—with a wink and a smile—to the great design traditions of the past.

Refreshed, relaxed, and oh-so today, Jamie Merida’s furniture and accessory designs for Chelsea House translate traditional motifs into a modern vernacular that is equally at ease in a urban condo or a waterfront cottage.

“The coast is an edgy place. It’s a place of tide and tantrum; of flirtations among fresh and saltwaters, forests and shores.” ― Carl Safina

about the tidewater collection

Merida draws inspiration for his new collection from the land, the sea, and the grand old homes of America’s Tidewater region. Scaled for today’s interiors and brought into the 21st century with a crisp bright color palate, pieces from the collection are perfect accents for your own favorite home furnishings.

Traditional elegance, modernized…  view the collection

Furniture in Jamie Merida’s Tidewater Collection for Chelsea House incorporates traditional design elements that are updated with painted, sometimes high gloss, finishes.

Chinoserie and Chinese Chippendale motifs form the framework for chests, tables, and benches that often include burnished metal, mirrored, and natural stone elements.

Accent pieces include mirrors, trays, lamps, and beautifully framed botanical prints.

“I am drawn to furniture design as complete architecture on a minor scale.”

“I’m so excited to have brought this new licensed collection to market and honored to be doing it with Chelsea House,” Jamie Merida says. “Chelsea House’s long reputation for quality and respect for traditional design is the foundation for a collection that I hope will allow people to see their homes in a whole new light.”
