Jamie Merida Launches New Furniture Collection & Website
To celebrate the launch of his newly licensed Tidewater Collection of furniture and decorative accessories for Chelsea House, Jamie Merida is hosting a cocktail party at Bountiful. The invitation only party will start at 5:30pm and run until 8:00pm. The party will also introduce the collection’s new website, which will go live the same day.
The Tidewater Collection, which currently includes 38 pieces, debuted in October 2016 at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina. Jamie says: “I’m so excited to be partnering with Chelsea House. Their long history of bringing exceptional lines of home furnishings to market and their commitment to maintaining high standards in both quality and sophisticated design means everything to me. It’s what we always try to do at Bountiful, and that shared vision has resulted in a collection that I’m proud to have my name on.”
Jamie drew inspiration for the new collection from the land, the sea, and the grand old homes that grace the riverbanks of America’s Tidewater Region. Maryland’s scenic Eastern Shore is part of the region, and Jamie drew much of his inspiration for the aesthetic, which he calls “Tidewater Style”, from Talbot County’s grand historic homes.
Furniture pieces in the collection update traditional design elements with painted finishes, a bright color palate, honed natural stone, and gold leaf, oil rubbed bronze and burnished metal finishes. Decorative accents include trays, mirrors, and botanical prints with contemporary painted wooden frames.
Merida says: “While we definitely pay homage to the great design traditions of the past, we hope we’re doing it with a wink and a smile. These are refreshed, relaxed designs that one magazine editor called ‘traditional elegance, modernized.’ We think she nailed it!”
